Get to Know Cohort XI

Cohort XI of the Columbus Impact Academy brings together 33 emerging leaders, most in their late 20s to mid-30s (median age 31), with experience spanning early-career professionals to seasoned leaders with 15+ years in the workforce. Around two-thirds identify as women, and the cohort reflects a strong mix of racial and ethnic identities, including Black, Asian, Hispanic/Latino, multiracial, and white professionals. Nearly half hold a bachelor’s degree, with another one-third holding master’s or doctoral degrees, and they collectively represent a wide range of sectors -- corporate, nonprofit, government, education, and entrepreneurship -- all anchored in Central Ohio’s growing leadership ecosystem.

Most participants grew up in Ohio (about 72%), with several hailing from across the U.S. and globally (including Ghana and India), and now live across Columbus and its suburbs -- from downtown and the Short North to Worthington, Bexley and beyond. Just over half have lived in Central Ohio for 15+ years, while others are relatively new to the region, adding fresh perspectives and outside experience. The cohort is highly engaged: roughly three-quarters are active in professional, civic, or industry groups, and about two-thirds have completed or are pursuing leadership programs or certifications.

Their “fun facts” reveal a vibrant mix of musicians, dancers, DIY creatives, animal lovers, world travelers, and language learners, all eager to deepen their roots, build meaningful relationships, and amplify their impact through this six-month leadership experience.
